BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - The Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% market witnessed slow buying activities over the past week due to consumers' wait-and-see attitudes. The current Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices moved down to RMB1,850-1,870/kg (USD269-272/kg) EXW T/T 30 days, a decrease of around RMB40/kg (USD5.8/kg) from one week ago. Given that buyers purchase inactively, insiders forecasted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices would decline further in the upcoming week.
A producer in North China revealed that his regular suppliers quote around RMB1,870/kg (USD272/kg) EXW T/T 30 days for ferrodysprosium 80% to him at present. According to his experience, he could buy at about RMB1,850/kg (USD269/kg) now, while he couldn't buy at prices below RMB1,900/kg (USD276/kg) one week ago. "I concluded my latest procurement at around RMB2,000/kg (USD291/kg) early this week," said the producer, who intends to keep holding a wait-and-see attitude in the coming week. As buyers purchase inactively and lower target prices continuously, he forecasted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices would decline by around RMB20/kg (USD2.9/kg) in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 96t of ferrodysprosium 80%, the consumer expects to use around five tons this month, down by one ton MoM. He consumed approximately 15t so far this year, compared with around 42t last year. He holds an inventory of around two tons now, in line with one month ago.
Another consumer in North China noted that his regular suppliers quote around RMB1,880/kg (USD273/kg) EXW T/T 30 days for ferrodysprosium 80% to him at present. Based on his experience, he could buy ata round RMB1,860/kg (USD271/kg) now, while he had difficulties in buying at prices below RMB1,900/kg (USD276/kg) one week ago. He last bought two tons at around RMB1,860/kg (USD271/kg) at the end of last week. "I have no intention to purchase ferrodysprosium 80% again in the coming week due to the abundant supply and sliding prices," said the consumer, who predicted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices still have room to go down in the coming week.
