Chinese lead concentrate TCs flat

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - The mainstream TCs of lead concentrate 60%min stood at RMB800-950/metal ton (USD117-139/metal ton) delivered today, unchanged from last week. Given thin profits and stable consumption from downstream clients, most suppliers had no intention to cut their TCs further and insiders predict that TCs of lead concentrate would flatten out as the following days.
A consumer in Guangxi disclosed, "We need to replenish stocks every week, the quotation of TC for lead concentrate 55%min from our supplier kept stable at RMB1,000/metal ton (USD146/metal ton) Delivered for a week. We plan to purchase about 1,000 metal tons this week". While they purchased about 2,000 metal tons at the same TC last Friday. They stated that there is no room for TCs to edge down further due to thin profits, and the profits now mainly come from the recycling of other metals. Therefore, they estimated that TCs of lead concentrate would stable in forthcoming days.
Based an annual consumption capacity of 210,000 metal tons, they would consume around 12,000 metal tons this month, on par with last month. They hold nearly 10,000 metal tons of stocks now.
"Our supplier held the TC of lead concentrate 60%min stable at RMB900/metal ton (USD131/metal ton) EXW since late last week. We purchased about 200 metal tons today and 300 metal tons last Friday at such price respectively," another consumer in Guangdong reported. They added they couldn't accept any further reduction in the TCs due to thin profits. As the market kept steady consumption, they predicted that TCs of lead concentrate might keep firm in the coming week.
The consumer, with an annual consumption capacity of 52,500 metal tons, plans to consume about 3,800 metal tons in April, unchanged MoM, holding an inventory of 3,500 metal tons currently.
