BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 23 - Dragged by consumers' decreasing target prices and furious competition among sellers, Chinese battery grade lithium carbonate suppliers lowered prices over the past week. Therefore, the mainstream prices of Chinese lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max dropped to RMB170,000-185,000/t (USD24,745-26,929/t) delivered D/A 180 days, down by around RMB20,000/t (USD2,911/t) from one week ago. As buyers purchase inactively, insiders forecasted that the Chinese lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max mainstream prices would slide further in the coming week.
A producer in North China disclosed that he lowers lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max quotation to around RMB180,000/t (USD26,201/t) delivered D/A 180 days and considers selling at about RMB170,000/t (USD24,745/t) now, while he had no intention to sell at prices below RMB200,000/t (USD29,112/t) one week ago. He concluded his latest sale yesterday, when he sold 100t at around RMB170,000/t (USD24,745/t). "Dragged by sliding target prices from consumers and furious competition, I have to lower lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max prices in order to gain orders," said the producer, who forecasted that the Chinese lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max mainstream prices would go down by around RMB20,000/t (USD2,911/t) in the coming week.

A consumer in South China noted that he sent an inquiry of 30t of lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max yesterday and got inquiries of around RMB180,000/t (USD26,201/t) delivered D/A 180 days from regular suppliers at present. According to his experience, he could buy at around RMB175,000/t (USD25,437/t) now, while he couldn't buy at prices below RMB195,000/t (USD28,384/t) one week ago. "I concluded my latest procurement in late March, when I bought 30t at around RMB260,000/t (USD37,846/t)," said the consumer, who forecasted that Chinese lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0.025%max, K 0.001%max mainstream prices still have room to go down in the forthcoming week.
