Chinese black silicon carbide exporters cut prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Apr 23 – Based on the soft domestic prices and the weak overseas demand, most exporters reduced their prices this week to boost sales
An exporter in Henan quoted USD950/t FOB China for black silicon carbide 88%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 3%max free C 2.5%max today with no counteroffer, dropped by USD10/t from early this week. The trader disclosed, "Our last deal dated back to early this week when we sold about 40t at almost USD960/t" . Although overseas buyers have weak demand, supported by the firm domestic prices, they would insist on their price and think that the prevailing export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would stay unchanged in the upcoming week.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume of 100t, they predicted to export about 100t in April, in line with last month. They have no inventory at present.
Another trader in Tianjin revealed, "We quoted USD960/t FOB China today for black silicon carbide 90%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 2.5%max free C 2.5%max without concessions, down by USD10/t from early this week". Their last deal closed late last week when they exported about 40t at around USD970/t . Although their overseas buyers still watch the market due to the soft prices, they would stick with their current price considering that their domestic suppliers refused to make more concessions and thus they believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would remain steady in the week to come.
The exporter, with a typical monthly trading volume of 200t, expects to sell about 100t in April, dopped by nearly 20t from March. They have no inventory at present.
