BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Apr 23 - Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min producers generally increased the prices further over the past week as most of them held confidence about the market driven by the tight supply of the raw materials. Currently, the mainstream prevailing prices of Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min increase to RMB9,000-9,400/kg (USD1,038-1,366/kg) EXW D/P, up by RMB100/kg (USD15/kg) from early last week. Market participants believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min would stay strong within this week considering that most producers insist on RMB9,500/kg (USD1,380/kg) EXW D/P with wait-and-see attitudes now.
A producer in Southern China disclosed that they offer RMB9,500/kg (USD1,380/kg) EXW D/P for germanium metal 99.99%min at present and only could accept RMB9,300/kg EXW D/P for regular clients. However, they still insisted on RMB9,200/kg (USD1,337/kg) EXW D/P one week ago. They last sold around 300kg at RMB9,300/kg (USD1,351/kg) EXW D/P early last week, and they preferred to watch the market without an offer as they hold confidence about the market. The source said, "We believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min would keep firm within this week supported by firm prices from producers."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 60tpy of germanium metal 99.99%min, holds no stock now, unchanged from the end of last month. They produced about 3.1t in March and produced about 3t in February. They produced about 30t in 2022 and around 8t in the past three months in 2023.
A consumer in Northern China noted that their regular suppliers moved up the prices to RMB9,500/kg (USD1,380/kg) EXW D/P for germanium metal 99.99%min presently and few of the suppliers could accept any lower price even for firm bids, while most of them still could accept RMB9,300/kg (USD1,351/kg) EXW D/P early last week.
