Shandong Huiyuan increases zinc oxide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 31 Mar 23 - Shandong Huiyuan Zinc Plant, one of major zinc oxide producers in East China, resumed operation of one production line in March, expecting its output to be around 900t this month.
"In February we had only two zinc oxide production lines in operation with output only around 500t that month. Entering March, we resumed operation of another line and expect our zinc oxide output to be about 900t in March," a source from the company said, adding that they produce zinc oxide from zinc ingot and zinc scrap which are purchased mainly from surrounding areas, and sells zinc oxide mainly to downstream chemistry, medicine, rubber, ceramics, etc.
With an annual production capacity of 10,000t of zinc oxide, the company produced about 6,800t in 2022 and holds about 200t of stocks now.
This Thursday, mainstream prices for zinc oxide 99.7%min produced with zinc ingot were RMB20,920-21,720/t (USD3,056-3,173/t), up by about RMB100/t (USD14.61/t) from Wednesday . Given weak market demand, insiders believe that prices for Chinese zinc oxide 99 . 7%min would drop in the coming week.
