Xinjiang Jinhong Silicon to stop silicon metal production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 - As one of major silicon metal producers in Xinjiang, Xinjiang Jinhong Silicon Industry Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. plans to stop production at the end of March, and there will no output in April, disclosed a source from the company.
"As the demand remains sluggish, we will stop production within two days as we already lost money now, and when will resume production depends on the market," revealed the source on Wednesday. They mainly produce silicon metal 421, 441 and silicon metal oxygen blown 5-5-3, while they don't quote now.
The producer, based on an annual silicon metal production of 25,000t, expects to output around 2,000t in March, unchanged from last month, holding around 500t in stock. The company owns 2 furnaces of 16,500kVA in total.
The current mainstream prices of silicon metal 5-5-3 in China firmly stand at RMB15,800-16,300/t (USD2,295-2,368/t) delivered to main port, unchanged from early this week.
