BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 – Due to the weak market demand and the dropped black silicon carbide lump prices, most processing plants reduced their prices this week to maintain orders
A producer in Jiangsu held their prices for black silicon carbide 98%min F16-100 Fe2O3 0.6%max free C 0.2%max at RMB10,400/t (USD1,508/t) EXW D/A 180 days today and could give no discount, down by RMB200/t (USD28/t) from early this week. "We inquired that the black silicon carbide 98%min 10-30cm from Gansu at around RMB8,000/t (USD1,161/t) EXW since this Monday", the producer disclosed, adding that they just sold about 33t this morning at RMB10,400/t (USD1,508/t) . Despite the high production costs, they have to keep their prices steady in view of the weak market demand and think that the mainstream prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep steady in the coming week.
Based on a production capacity of 12,000tpy, they predict to produce about 600t in March, in line with last month. Now they have stocks of almost 300t.
Another producer in Shandong kept the quotation for black silicon carbide 98%min F16-100 Fe2O3 0.6%max free C 0.2%max at RMB10,500/t (USD1,524/t) EXW D/A 180 days, while they refused to sell at any prices lower than RMB10,700/t (USD1,553/t) early this week. "We just purchased about 100t of black silicon lump late last week at about RMB8,000/t (USD1,161/t) EXW while we intend to buy 500t but decrease to only 100t in view of the dropping prices", the producer claimed. They just signed a contract of 120t this morning at around RMB10,500/t (USD1,524/t) . Despite that most of their clients hold a wait-and-see attitude, they have no intention to lower the prices further based on the firm production costs and they predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide grain sand would keep steady in the coming week.
With a production capacity of 18,000tpy, they plan to produce about 500t in March, compared to about 400t in February. Presently they have an inventory of nearly 200t.
