Shangdu Yezhao Metallurgy to stop the production of HC ferrochrome

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 - Shangdu Yezhao Metallurgy Co., Ltd., one of the major HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max producers, predicts to stop their production in April, a source from this company revealed to Asian Metal.
The source mentioned, "We hold 4 furnaces of 16,500kVA at present and we plan to update our furnaces to one 33,000kVA furnace and another 42,000kVA furnace". They plan to rent their furnaces after the improvement and stop the production in April. They could maximum produce around 8,000t each month but only produced around 3,000t in March because of the weak demand.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 120,000t of HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max, predicts to stop their production in April, while they produced around 3,000t in March. They produced around 10,000t so far in 2023.
On Wednesday, the mainstream prices for HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max stand at RMB8,900-9,100/t (USD1,292-1,321/t) EXW D/P, unchanged from early this week. Insiders predict the mainstream prices would keep unchanged in the coming three days as most suppliers have no plan to change their prices.
