Zhongshan Zhongsheng Metal Strip to increase NGO electrical steel production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Mar 23 - As a major non-grain oriented electrical steel producer in South China, Zhongshan Zhongsheng Metal Strip Technology Co. (Zhongshan Zhongsheng Metal Strip) would increase the production by about 5,000t MoM to around 50,000t in March, disclosed a source of the company.
"We would expand the production of NGO electrical steel from about 45,000t last month to around 50,000t this month due to increased orders," explained the source, adding that they have an inventory of about 10,000t in hand for the time being, similar to that of last month.
Located in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, the company produces NGO electrical steel with grades of 1,300-300. Based on the annual production capacity of about one million tonnes, it saw an output of about 550,000t of NGO electrical steel last year and produced around 90,000t in the first two months of 2023.
The present mainstream prices of NGO electrical steel 800 from Zhongshan Zhongsheng Metal Strip stand at about RMB5,700/t (USD828/t) D/P in warehouse Foshan, the same as those of last week. Insiders predict that Chinese NGO electrical steel prices would maintain stable in the coming week on weak demand and high prices of steel mills.
