Guizhou Zexi resumed calcined bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Mar 23 - A major calcined bauxite producer in China, Guizhou Zexi Mineral Co., Ltd. resumed production on 21st March and expected to produce around 10,000t in April.
"We halted production on 30th December owing to the dormant market demand and resumed on 21st March", a source from the company revealed, adding that they already hold raw bauxite inventory of almost 20,000t and they plan to produce about 10,000t in April.
With a production capacity of 120,000tpy, the company produced about 45,000t in 2022, and expect to keep same production volume this year. They hold an inventory of only 1000t, at present.
The current prevailing prices of calcined bauxite 88%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2%max K2O+Na2O 0.9%max B.D. 3.35min stand at RMB2,550-2,650/t (USD370-385/t) EXW D/P in Guizhou, on par with late last week. The market saw limited deals based on the weak market demand. However, in view of the supply shortage of raw bauxite, market participants estimate that the prevailing prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay steady in the forthcoming week.
