Chinese black silicon carbide exporters cut prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Mar 23 – Due to the overseas buyers' weak demand and the reduced domestic prices, most exporters cut their prices this week to boost sales
A trader in Dalian revealed, "We quoted USD970/t FOB China for black silicon carbide 88%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 3%max free C 2.5%max today with no concession, while we insisted on USD1,000/t late last week". The trader finished their latest deal about a week ago when they exported about 60t to a Japanese regular client at around USD1,010/t . Given the weak overseas market demand and the decreased domestic prices, they believe their price would continue to drop and predict that the mainstream export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would move down in the week to come.
The exporter, with a typical monthly trading volume of 200t, expects to export around 160t in March, compared to about only 40t last month. Currently they have an inventory of early 200t.
Another trader in Tianjin offered USD1,050/t Ex-VAT FOB China for black silicon carbide 90%min 0.5-5mm Fe2O3 2%max free C 1.5%max today with no concession, while they stick to USD1,080/t late last week. The trader disclosed, "Our last deal dated back to 20th March when we export about 80t at around USD1,130/t with package to a regular client from Japan" . Considering that the domestic market prices declining, they plan to cut their price further and predict that the mainstream export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep going down in the upcoming week.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume of 300t, they predict to export about 180t in March, compared to about 200t in February. They have about 200t in stock at present.
