South African chrome ore prices in China unchanged

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Mar 23 – Most suppliers keep their prices unchanged from late last week. Currently, the mainstream prices for South African chrome concentrate 40%min stand at RMB55-56/dmtu (USD7.99-8.14/dmtu) in warehouse Tianjin port, unchanged from late last week. Insiders predict the mainstream prices would keep flat within this week as most suppliers have no plan to change their prices.
A trader from North China disclosed, "We offer RMB56/dmtu (USD8.14/dmtu) for South African chrome concentrate 40%min and could accept the price as low as RMB55/dmtu (USD7.99/dmtu) at present, unchanged from late last week". They last sold around 1,000t at RMB55.5/dmtu (USD8.06/dmtu) in early March. They have no plan to decrease their price because they received the quotation at USD300/t (42%-basis) CIF China for South African chrome concentrate 40%min from South African traders. They predict the mainstream price would keep flat within this week.
The trader, based on a regular monthly trading volume of around 3,000t of South African chrome concentrate 40%min, predicts to sell around 1,000t in March, down by around 2,000t from last month. They hold around 5,000t of stocks at present.
