  • Chinese ferrosilicon exporters positive about the market

    BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 23 - Although most exporters held their prices unchanged today due to limited deals, they held positive attitudes about the market in consideration of increased domestic prices and more inquiries and Insiders hold the view the mainstream export prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would move up slightly within this week. Currently, the mainstream export prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm stand flat at USD1,570-1,600/t FOB China, unchanged from late last week.

    A trader from Henan disclosed, "We hold positive attitude about the market given increased domestic prices. We would consider lifting our price late this week and predict the mainstream export prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would go up by the end of this week". They didn't close any deal today and last sold 50t at USD1,610/t FOB China three weeks ago. The trader's best export price for ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm stood at USD1,600/t FOB China today and they insisted on such price from late last week.

    The trader, with a regular monthly export volume of 600t, expects to export about 300t in March, in line with last month. They don't have any inventory at the moment.

    Another trader from Shanxi mentioned that they held positive attitude towards the market for more active market. "We received four to five inquiries from last week while we only received two inquiries weekly before last week", revealed the trader, adding that they didn't close any deal today and last sold 25t at USD1,560/t CIF Chile with the freight of USD60/t two weeks ago. They stuck to exporting ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm at USD1,570/t FOB China from late last week and predict the mainstream export prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would increase within this week due to more inquiries.

    Based on the typical monthly export volume of 500t, the trader predicts to export around 100t in March, down by 200t from the previous month for weak demand before late this month. They hold no stock currently.
