Hongke Carbon cuts prebaked anode production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 23 - Hebei Hongke Carbon Co., the only prebaked anode producer in Hebei of China, cut production from late February and might produce 16,000t in March, down from over 20,000t last month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We cut production by over 20% from late last month and might produce 16,000t this month," said the source, who keeps around 10,000t in stock and cut production mainly because of the weakened demand. They might not restart normal operation in the coming month.
The producer, with four baking furnaces and the total production capacity of 350,000tpy, produced over 200,000t in 2022 and close to 60,000t so far this year.
Current mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in north China keep at RMB5,750-5,850/t (USD835-850/t) EXW, down by RMB40/t (USD6/t) from late last week for the weak demand. As aluminum smelters cut production, the demand for prebaked anode became weak from late last month.
