Shanxi Jianlong Steel to decrease the output of HR strip

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 23 - As a major HR strip producer in North China, Shanxi Jianlong Iron and Steel Co. (Shanxi Jianlong Steel) would cut the production from about 140,000t in February to around 130,00t this month.
"We would reduce the output of HR strip by about 10,000t month on month to around 130,000t in March due to decreased orders," said a source of the company. In addition, they have no spot materials in hand now and customers need to place orders beforehand.
Located in Yuncheng, Shanxi province and based on one HR strip production line of 650mm rolling mill, the company produces HR strip with the width of 375-520mm and thickness of 1.2-6.0mm. With an annual production capacity of about two million tonnes, it witnessed an output of about 1.55 million tonnes last year and produced around 290,000t in the first two months of 2023.
The mainstream prices of HR strip Q195 (232-355)mm*2.5mm*C stood at about RMB4,170/t (USD606/t) D/P in warehouse Tangshan on Monday, down by RMB20/t (USD3/t) compared with those of last Friday. Insiders expect Chinese HR strip prices to drop further in the coming week on weak demand.
