"We plan to suspend production since 1st April owing to the sluggish market demand and predict to have an output of nearly 2,000t this month", a source from the company revealed, noting that they would consider to resume production after the market demand turn better or keep their inventory to a lower level.
With a production capacity of 35,000tpy, the company produced about 15,000t in 2022 compared to about 17,000t in 2021. Currently they hold an inventory of nearly 2,000t.
The current mainstream prices of Chinese brown fused alumina 95%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 0.3%max SiO2 1.0%max stand at RMB4,900-5,000/t (USD726-743/t) EXW D/P in Henan, on par with early this week . The market demand stayed dormant since the end market remained dim . Nonetheless, in view of the firm production costs, insiders believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese brown fused alumina would keep stable in the coming week.
