BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Mar 23 - Lagune Exploitation Bongouanou (LEB), a major bauxite producer from Ivory Coast, plans to double production capacity from the middle of this year from the current capacity of 120,000tpm, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"Our current production capacity is 120,000tpm and we could double it to 240,000tpm from the middle of this year depending on the demand," said the source, who remains out of production now and holds around 30,000t of bauxite Al2O3 47%min SiO2 4%max in stock.
They plan to restart operation during April and May, targeting around 700,000t of bauxite production in 2023. For the COVID-19, they were out of production in 2022.
Present mainstream prices for imported bauxite Al2O3 47%min ReSiO2 5%max stand at USD65-67/dt CIF China, steady from late last week. As Indonesia has stopped bauxite export, Chinese demand for bauxite from other regions would improve.
