BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Mar 23 - As vanadium alloy bidding prices keep moving down, Chinese ammonium metavanadate prices couldn't get effective support and the market mentality stayed negative during the past week. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min stand at RMB128,000-130,000/t (USD18.4-18.7/kg) EXW D/P, down by RMB1,000/t (USD0.1/kg) from late last week. Considering that few buyers would like to add inventory and the rare inquiries in spot continues, insiders believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would edge down in the coming week.
"Vanadium nitride bidding prices we inquired dropped to the latest around RMB201,000/t (USD37.5/kg V) delivered D/A 180 days, which couldn't offer any effective for raw material prices. In order to avoid holding too much stocks, we could accept RMB128,000/t (USD18.4/kg) for firm bids of ammonium metavanadate 98%min now," said a producer in South China. They last sold 20t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB129,000/t (USD18.5/kg) late last week, when they quoted at around RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg). Considering that most buyers prefer to watch the market and inquiries in spot market stay rare for the moment, they predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would drop to around RMB125,000/t (USD18/kg) in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 1,200t, they produced about 630t in 2022 and about 100t so far this year. The producer expects to produce around 50t this month, the same as last month. They have around 30t of stocks now, unchanged MoM.
"Vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min prices we inquired moved down by around RMB2,000/t (USD0.1/lb V2O5) from one week ago to the latest around RMB136,000/t (USD9/lb V2O5) EXW D/P. In order to guarantee our market competitiveness, we want to sell ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB128,000/t (USD18.4/kg) now," said a producer in North China. They last sold around 32t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg) EXW D/P about 10 days ago and didn't receive any inquiries after that. Considering that few buyers would like to add inventory and the soft mentality in spot market continues, they expect that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would move down by at least RMB2,000/t (USD0.3/kg) in the following week.
