Chinese antimony trioxide market sees limited deals

BEIJIING (Asian Metal) 22 Mar 23 - Restricted by the decrease of prices, most Chinese antimony trioxide consumers only refill stocks based on orders at present, leading to limited deals in the market on the whole. Mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min stand at RMB73,500-74,500/t (USD10,672-10,817/t) delivered D/A 30 days currently, down by RMB1,000/t (USD145/t) from late last week. In view of inactive deals in the market overall and strong wait-and-see sentiments, insiders predict that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would go down further in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, "We now quote RMB75,000/t (USD10,890/t) delivered D/A 30 days for antimony trioxide 99.8%min and could give a discount of RMB500/t (USD72.60/t) for firm orders from regular customers, but with no deals concluded so far this week. The domestic antimony trioxide market sees inactive deals at the moment as most consumers just wait on the sidelines against the backdrop of the downward prices." They only received an enquiry from a client by now this week, but the client refused to accept any prices higher than RMB74,000/t (USD10,744/t) as they could receive the quotation of RMB73,500/t (USD10,672/t) from other suppliers. Given inactive deals in the market, the producer predicts that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would keep declining in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 5,000t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, the producer produced about 4,000t of the material in 2022 and expects that the output in March 2023 would be around 200t, steady MOM. They hold no stocks at the moment, basically unchanged from last month.
Another producer in South China said, "We now quote RMB74,000/t (USD10,744/t) delivered D/A 30 days for antimony trioxide 99.8%mina and could give the price of RMB73,500/t (USD10,672/t) to regular customers with real intention to make replenishments. We already sold 20t of the material at RMB73,500/t (USD10,672/t) early this week, but deals are inactive in the current market." They could sell around 100t of the material per week in normal condition, but only sold 20t in the past week as the market saw prevailing wait-and-see sentiments in the past two weeks against the backdrop of the downward price trend. In light of soft demand continuously seen in the market, the producer expects that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would continue to decrease in the coming week.
