BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 Mar 23 - As zircon sand suppliers lifted offers upon the tight supply of raw material, the current mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China edged up by RMB200/t (USD29/t) to RMB15,400-15,700/t (USD2,241-2,284/t) EXW D/P from late last week. Given the slow purchases but firm offers from suppliers, insiders predict the mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China would go stable this week.
A consumer in Fujian disclosed that he bought 200t of zircon sand 65%min at RMB15,400/t (USD2,241/t) EXW D/P from a supplier who quoted RMB15,500/t (USD2,255/t) on Tuesday, while the supplier gave the same offer but could accept RMB15,200/t (USD2,212/t) late last week. "The major suppliers insisted on increasing prices by RMB200/t (USD29/t) at least this week as the intermediate zircon ore prices firmly stand at USD23-25/mtu (USD3,34-3,63/mtu) upon the tight supply," revealed the consumer on Tuesday. He added that the sluggish demand of zirconium silicate dragged his purchase of zircon sand decreased, and he predicts the mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China would keep stable upon the firm offers from supplier but sluggish demand in China.
With an annual consumption capacity of 36,000t, the consumer expects to consume all various level of zircon sand at around 2,000t this month, unchanged from last month, holding about 1,000t in stock.
A producer in Hainan disclosed that he sold 300t of zircon sand 65%min at RMB15,800/t (USD2,299/t) delivered D/P covered the logistic of RMB100/t (USD14/t) on Monday, while he could accept RMB15,600/t (USD2,270/t) late last week. "The current prices zircon ore with zircon content of 40% stand at USD25-26/mtu (USD3.63-3.78/mtu) upon the tight supply, and I increased prices this week upon the high risk of losing money due to the volatile exchange currency," revealed the producer on Tuesday.
