BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 - As the demand from end users remains weak, the spot market for antimony ingot sees slack movements amid a strong wait-and-see sentiment, and mainstream prices moved down slowly. Prevailing prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min now stand at RMB83,000-84,000/t (USD12,067-12,212/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB500/t (USD72.69/t) from late last week. Given the overall limited supply of raw material and the relatively short supply of antimony ingot, insiders believe that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min would stay unmoved on the whole in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, "Our current offer for antimony ingot 99.85%min is RMB84,000/t (USD12,212/t) EXW D/P and we won't consider any lower prices for the moment. However, most consumers refuse to purchase at prices higher than RMB83,000/t (USD12,067/t) this week when no deals were closed. We last sold about 64t of at RMB84,500/t (USD12,285/t) one week ago". The producer explained that as prices keep moving down slowly, the market sees a strong wait-and-see sentiment, and most of their clients refuse to purchase at high prices, which led to a slack market. They added that prices for Chinese antimony concentrate 50%min now stay firm at around RMB70,000/t (USD10,177/t) and the spot supply remains tight. Therefore, the producer believes that prices for Chinese antimony ingot 99.85%min would remain stable on the whole in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 5,000t of antimony ingot 99.85%min, they expect to produce about 300t in March, compared with around 100t in February, and now hold inventory of around 100t. They produced about 2,500t in total last year.
