Ansteel to increase NGO electrical steel production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 - As the major non-grain oriented electrical steel producer in Northeast China, Anshan Iron and Steel Co. (Ansteel) would expand the production from about 78,000t this month to around 87,000t in April, revealed a source of the company.
"We received more orders and would increase the output of NGO electrical steel by about 9,000t MoM to around 87,000t next month," explained the source, adding that they have no spot materials in hand now and customers need to place orders in advance.
Located in Anshan, Liaoning province and based on the annual production capacity of about 1.1 million tonnes, the company produces NGO electrical steel with grades of 1,300-230. It saw an output of about 950,000t of NGO electrical steel last year and produced around 176,000t in the first two months of 2023.
The mainstream prices of NGO electrical steel 50AW800 0.5mm*1,200mm*C from Ansteel stand at about RMB5,800/t (USD842/t) D/P in warehouse Shanghai at present, the same as those of last week. Insiders expect Chinese NGO electrical steel prices to keep stable in the coming week because of customers' slow buying activities and high prices of steel mills.
