Tangshan Delong Steel decreases HR strip prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 - As a major producer of HR strip in Tangshan, Hebei province, Tangshan Delong Iron and Steel Co. (Tangshan Delong Steel) reduced prices by RMB20/t (USD3/t) on March 20th. After the decrease, the price of HR strip Q195 265-355mm*2.5mm*C stood at RMB4,260/t (USD618/t) EXW D/P.
"We cut HR strip prices by RMB20/t (USD3/t) on Monday due to weak demand and decreased raw material prices of steel billet," said a source of the company. According to him, current mainstream prices of steel billet Q235 150mm*150mm hover at about RMB4,000/t (USD580/t) in Tangshan, down by RMB50/t (USD7/t) over the past one week.
Besides, the source also revealed that the planned output of HR strip for this month would reach about 230,000t, up by around 30,000t month on month. They have no spot materials in hand now and customers need to place orders in advance.
Based on two HR strip production lines of 650mm rolling mill and the annual production capacity of about 3.6 million tonnes, the company produces HR strip with the width of 262-400mm and thickness of 1.7-4.75mm. It witnessed an output of about 2.65 million tonnes of HR strip last year and produced around 440,000t in Jan-Feb of 2023.
