BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 - Encouraged by increased columbite prices, Chinese niobium oxide suppliers remained optimistic about the market in the past week
A producer in South China claimed that as current columbite 50%min offers increased to USD18.0/lb Oxides CIF China, they remained optimistic about the market. They quote RMB305/kg (USD44.3/kg) EXW D/P for niobium oxide 99.5%min and could accept RMB300/kg (USD43.5/kg) for orders no less than 5t at present, unchanged from early last week. "Considering higher production cost, we stay in no hurry to sell at lower prices," said the producer, who refused all inquiries at target purchasing prices lower than RMB300/kg (USD43.5/kg) after they last sold about 5t at around RMB300/kg (USD43.5/kg) to a regular client early last week. Encouraged by increased columbite prices, the producer plans to raise their price by around RMB2/kg (USD0.3/kg) next week and predicts that the mainstream prices would increase by around RMB2/kg (USD0.3/kg) in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 360t, expects to produce 20t in March, up by 10t from February. They produced nearly 203t in 2022 and almost 25t so far in 2023 . They hold no stock now, unchanged from last month.
"We have confidence in the market encouraged by increased prices for raw materials and strong demand from end users," said a trader in South China, who offers RMB305/kg (USD44.3/kg) EXW D/P for niobium oxide 99.5%min and could accept RMB300/kg (USD43.5/kg) for orders no less than 2t now, while they insisted on RMB300/kg (USD43.5/kg) for the same quantity early last week.
