BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 – Most Chinese caustic calcined magnesia suppliers held their prices firm from last Friday considering high production costs despite dim market
A producer in Yingkou stated, "We kept our quotation for caustic calcined magnesia MgO 85%min, SiO2 7%max, CaO 3%max, 200mesh at RMB750/t (USD109/t) EXW D/P with no more concessions from last Friday". They offered RMB770/t (USD112/t) to a client who wanted to buy 300t today and they believe that they would close the deal at RMB750/t (USD109/t) tomorrow. They last sold nearly 500t at RMB750/t (USD109/t) late last week. Even though the demand stays dim, they intend to hold their prices firm as they last purchased nearly 4,000t of anthracite at RMB1,450/t (USD210/t) delivered from Shanxi early this month . Therefore, they predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia would keep flat in the week to come.
Based on the production capacity of 125,000tpy of caustic calcined magnesia, the producer expects to produce about 6,000t in March, similar to last month. They hold nearly 1,500t of stocks currently.
Another producer in Yingkou said, "We offered RMB750/t (USD109/t) EXW D/P and refused any counteroffer for caustic calcined magnesia MgO 85%min, SiO2 6.5%max, CaO 3 . 5%max, 200mesh, unmoved from last Friday ", adding that they last sold around 600t at such price last Thursday. Though their clients have no intention to replenish more stocks, they still plan to stick to the current price because they last purchased about 3,000t of coal at RMB1,150/t (USD167/t) delivered from Inner Mongolia at the beginning of last month . They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia would keep unchanged in the week to come.
