Chinese calcined bauxite export market witnesses stable prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Mar 23 – Despite that the overseas market demand stayed dormant, most exporters firmed their prices in the past week supported by the stable domestic prices
An exporter in Henan disclosed, "We held our price for calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 45%max B . D . 3.15min stable from early this week at USD460/t FOB China and could accept no concessions". Their last deal dated back to early this week when they sold out about 100t to a client at USD460/t . Although their suppliers reminded them of the future prices rising trend, considering the dormant overseas market demand, they consider to keep their current prices to maintain orders and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would keep stable in the following week.
The exporter, based on a typical monthly trading volume of 300t, expected to export about 300t in March, while they exported only about 200t last month. They have no stock at present.
Another exporter in Tianjin quoted USD470/t Inc-VAT FOB China for calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.6%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 35%max B . D . 3 . 15min max and could not give any discount, on par with early this week. "We concluded our last deal early this week when we sold about 500t at USD470/t to an Indian client", the exporter revealed . Although the domestic prices remain high, they decide to flatten their price given the weak overseas demand and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay stable in the coming week.
With a regular monthly trading volume of 2,000t, they expect to sell about 2,000t in March, compared to about 1,600t in February. Currently they have an inventory of nearly 85,000t.
