Russian aluminum alloy ingots export prices down

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 17 Mar 23 - Over the past two weeks, primary aluminum prices reduced, forcing end users of aluminum alloy ingots to watch the market. Present mainstream export prices for secondary aluminum alloy ingot ADC12 keep at USD2,250-2,300/t CIF Japan, down by around USD50/t from early this week, while prices for AK5M2 stand at USD2,100-2,150/t CIF Japan, down by USD100/t from late last month. Producers anticipate lower prices late this month.
A secondary aluminum alloy ingots producer from Russia reported that they now offer USD2,300/t CIF Japan for 300t of ADC12 but buyers do not accept and lately closed 400t at around USD2,320/t CIF Japan early this week. "Buyers now expect lower prices because of the reduced price of primary aluminum," said the source, who predicted that sales prices might drop to below USD2,300/t soon next week as the primary aluminum price dropped over USD100/t to around USD2,250/t since early this month.
With the production capacity of 50,000tpy and three melting furnaces, they produced around 2,100t last month and might produce 2,200t this month with no stock now. They produced around 40,000t in 2022 and over 5,000t so far this year.
Another producer of secondary aluminum alloy ingots producer from Russia confirmed that they now offer USD2,150/t CIF Japan for AK5M2, down from USD2,300/t late last month, while buyers request USD2,100/t now. "We lately sold around 300t at around USD2,250/t CIF Japan one month ago," said the source, who anticipated that prices would drop further in the coming two weeks as buyers watch the market for cheaper prices.
The producer, with the production capacity of 18,000tpy and two melting furnaces would produce 600t this month while the production might slip by 50% in April in line with the orders in March. They produced around 6,000t in 2022 and hold no stock now.
