Antimony trioxide prices down in China

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 Mar 23 - Owing to soft demand in the terminal market, the Chinese antimony trioxide market sees inactive deals this week and some suppliers have to slightly cut their prices to boost sales. Mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min stand at RMB74,500-75,500/t (USD10,785-10,929/t) delivered D/A 30 days currently, down by about RMB500/t (USD72.38/t) from late last week. In view of limited deals in the market, insiders predict that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would continue to decline slightly in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, "We now quote RMB75,500/t (USD10,930/t) delivered D/A 30 days for antimony trioxide 99.8%miin and could accept the price of RMB75,000/t (USD10,857/t) for firm orders. We already sold about 20t of the material at RMB75,000/t (USD10,857/t) this week and 20t at RMB76,000/t (USD11,002/t) late last week." According to the producer, the domestic antimony trioxide market saw limited deals starting from early March as consumers only refilled stocks based on orders against the backdrop of soft demand in the terminal market. The producer could sell 200t of the material per week in normal condition, but their weekly sales are only about 100t at present. In view of inactive demand in the market caused by the fact that consumers only make replenishments in accordance with orders, the producer expects that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would go down further in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 20,000t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, the producer produced about 16,000t of the material in 2022 and expects that the output in March 2023 would be around 1,200t, in comparison to about 700t last month. They hold no spot stocks for the time being, unchanged MOM.
A trader in South China said, "We now quote RMB76,000/t (USD11,002/t) delivered D/A 30 days for antimony trioxide 99.8%min and could give a discount of RMB500/t (USD72.38/t) to regular customers with real intention to refill stocks, but deals in the market are inactive. We once sold about 20t of the material at RMB75,500/t (USD10,930/t) early this week and about 10t at RMB76,000/t (USD11,002/t) late last week." In spite of slight increase of enquiries, deals are still inactive in the market this week as consumers just keep purchasing from hand to mouth with strong wait-and-see sentiments. The trader expects to sell about 80t of the material this month, much lower than the figure of about 120t last month. Given limited deals in the market, the trader predicts that mainstream prices of Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would keep declining in the coming week.
With a regular monthly trade volume of about 200t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, the trader expects to sell about 100t of the material in March, stable MOM. They totally sold about 1,200t of the material in 2022 and hold about 50t of stocks at the moment, unchanged MOM.
