BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 Mar 23 – Given weak demand but tight supply, the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm stand at RMB7,900-8,100/t (USD1,148-1,178/t) EXW D/P, unchanged from yesterday. Insiders hold the view that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would keep flat within this week due to tight supply.
A consumer from Shaanxi disclosed, "The best price of ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm we received today stood at RMB7,900/t (USD1,148/t) EXW D/P and the most competitive price we received yesterday stood at this price as well". They didn't purchased today because they have enough stock for this week and last purchased 200t at RMB7,850/t (USD1,141/t) Delivered early this week with the freight of RMB20/t (USD3/t) from a local supplier. The trader further revealed that they waited two days for the delivery of the batch they purchased early this week, while they received the materials within the day they placed orders in February. They believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would stay firm within in this week.
The consumer, with an annual consumption capacity of 36,000t, expects to consume about 1,500t in March, in line with last month. They hold an inventory of nearly 500t currently.
Another consumer in Shanxi mentioned that they purchased 300t of ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm at RMB8,000/t (USD1,163/t) Delivered D/P with a freight of RMB100/t (USD15/t) today. "The most competitive price we received yesterday stood at RMB7,900/t EXW without any concession and last purchased 200t at RMB8,000/t (USD1,163/t) EXW late last week", revealed the consumer, adding that they hardly receive the material they purchased within five days since early this month, while they received the material they purchased within three days after placing the order. The consumer predicts that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would remains stable within this week due to low inventories from suppliers.
Based on the consumption capacity of 43,200tpy, the consumer predicts to consume around 2,100t in March, on par with the previous month. They have approximately 500t in stock at the moment.
