Shanxi Jianlong Steel expands HRC production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Mar 23 - Shanxi Jianlong Iron and Steel Co. (Shanxi Jianlong Steel), one of the leading HRC producers in North China, plans to produce 140,000t of HRC in March, up from 120,000t in February.
"Supported by the recovered profits and improving sales performance, we accelerated the operation of the only 1,500mm HRC production line this month, and the output in March would witness the MoM rise of 20,000t to 140,000t," disclosed a sales official from Shanxi Jianlong Steel. In the meantime, he revealed that the mill will use around 50,000t of HRC, with the rest 90,000t sold to the market. Upon the recovering demand from downstream industries, the source shows confidence in the market prospect and foresees upward price trend in the remainder of this month.
Based on an annual production capacity of 4 million tons, Shanxi Jianlong Steel might produce 450,000t of HRC in the first quarter of 2023, against 2.3 million tons or so in 2022. Shanxi Jianlong Steel holds no stock right now.
Presently, the mainstream price of HRC Q235B 5.75mm*1,500mm*C stands at RMB4,450/t (USD647/t) in Taiyuan, Shanxi, up by RMB50/t (USD7/t) from Monday. The market keeps warming up following the improving demand from downstream industries, and traders move up prices actively supported by the positive anticipation for the market prospect.
