Chinese flake graphite prices stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Mar 23 - Most Chinese flake graphite producers hold their prices firm this week as they hold few inventories while the demand remains soft from the downstream market. Therefore, the current mainstream prices of Chinese flake graphite -194 for spherical graphite production, C 94%min, Volatile 1.2%max stand at RMB5,000-5,200/t (USD728-757/t) EXW D/A 180 days, in line with last Friday. As most suppliers prefer to keep their prices unchanged, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fine flake graphite would remain unchanged in the following week.
"We quoted RMB5,200/t (USD757/t) EXW D/A 180 days for flake graphite -194 for spherical graphite production, C 94%min, Volatile 1.2%max at present and would accept an counteroffer of RMB100/t (USD15/t) for firm bids, unchanged from last Friday", a producer in Shandong claimed. They closed no order so far this month and last sold about 200t at RMB5,100/t (USD742/t) late last month. As they hold no inventories, the producer intend to keep their price stable and predicts that the mainstream prices of Chinese flake graphite -194 would remain steady in the coming week.
Based on a production capacity of 25,000tpy, the producer expects to produce approximately 1,000t in March, unchanged MoM. Now they have no stocks.
Another producer from Heilongjiang keeps the quotation for flake graphite -194 for spherical graphite production, C 94%min, Volatile 1.2%max unchanged at RMB5,200/t (USD757/t) EXW D/A 180 days with no concession from last Friday. "We received no order yet this week and last sold about 50t at such price half a month ago", the producer revealed. As they hold few inventories now, they would hold the prices firm and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese fine flake graphite -194 would keep stable in the week to come.
With an annual production capacity of 50,000t, they suspended in early December, 2022 due to the low temperature and plan to resume in May. They hold an inventory of about nearly 500t.
