BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Mar 23 – Considering the demand and production costs remain stable this week, most producers intend to hold the price unchanged
A producer in Dashiqiao noted, "We offered RMB2,650/t (USD386/t) EXW D/P for dead burned magnesia MgO 95%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D . 3.20min, 0-30mm and could probably accept concessions no more than RMB50/t (USD7/t) for orders over 300t, unchanged from last Friday", adding that they last sold around 500t at RMB2,600/t (USD379/t) late last week. The producer mentioned that they last purchased around 10,000t of coking coal at RMB2,300/t (USD335/t) EXW D/P from Ningxia mid last month, so they intend to hold the price firm and predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese dead burned magnesia would remain unchanged in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 480,000t of dead burned magnesia, predicts to produce about 3,000t in March, in line with last month. They have an inventory of approximately 1,000t at present.
"We quoted RMB2,650/t (USD382/t) EXW D/P and considered no concession for dead burned magnesia MgO 95%min, SiO2 2%max, CaO 1.4%max, B . D . 3 . 18min, 0-30mm since last Friday", said another producer in Dashiqiao . They last sold about 200t at such price late last week. As they last purchased nearly 5,000t of anthracite at RMB1,750/t (USD255/t) delivered from Ningxia early last month, they prefer to keep their price firm and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese dead burned magnesia would stay steady in the following week.
Based on the production capacity of 90,000tpy of dead burned magnesia, the producer expects to produce about 5,000t in March, similar to last month. They hold no stocks now.
