Longling Shunkang Silicon Metallurgy suspends silicon metal production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Mar 23 - As one of major silicon metal producer in Baoshan, Yunnan, Longling Shunkang Metallurgy Co., Ltd. stopped production late last week, and the output in March decreased by around 900t against February, disclosed a source from the company.
"We stopped silicon metal production three days ago upon the high production cost and meager profit due to the lackluster market, and the output ramped down by 900-1,000t in March against February," revealed the producer on Monday. He mentioned that his current offer of 3-2-03 stands at around RMB18,000/t (USD2,614/t) delivered to Kunming.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 17,200t of silicon metal, produced around 500t in March, down by about 900t from last month, holding around 500t in stock. The producer owns two furnaces of 12,500kVA in total with both stopped production.
The current mainstream prices of silicon metal 3-3-03 in China dropped by RMB300/t (USD43/t) to RMB17,800-18,300/t (USD2,585-2,657/t) delivered to Huangpu from early last week. As more and more producers in Yunnan couldn't maintain production and plan to stop running in late March, insiders predict the mainstream prices of silicon metal 3-3-03 in China would stop falling and keep stable in the following week.
