Chinese LC ferromanganese prices drop

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 March 23 - As most end consumers delayed their purchase activities, most LC ferromanganese producers in China decrease their prices to promote sales. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese ferromanganese Mn 80%min C 0.7%max P 0.3%max S 0.02%max stay at RMB10,900-11,200/t (USD1,584-1,628/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB200/t (USD28/t) from last Friday. Considering the thin profit despite the soft demand, insiders expect that the prevailing prices of Chinese LC ferromanganese would not change this week.
A producer in South China revealed, "We currently quote RMB10,800/t (USD1,570/t) EXW D/P for ferromanganese Mn 80%min C 0.7%max P 0.3%max S 0.02%max in China and would not accept any prices lower than that, while we offered RMB11,000/t (USD1,599/t) with the concession as much as RMB100/t (USD14/t) late last week". The producer failed to receive a new order today and last sold 100t at RMB10,900/t (USD1,584/t) early last week. Because of the high production costs despite the weak demand, the supplier prefers to hold their prices stable and predicts that the prevailing prices of LC ferromanganese in China would remain steady in the following days.
The producer, based on the annual production capacity of 36,000t of LC ferromanganese, plans to produce around 2,000t in March, unchanged from last month. They currently have no inventory.
A producer in South China mentioned that their current quotation for Chinese ferromanganese Mn 80%min C 0.4%max P 0.3%max S 0.02%max stands at RMB10,900t (USD1,584/t) EXW D/P and they could accept the discounts of no more than RMB100/t (USD14/t). The producer quoted RMB11,000t (USD1,599/t) with the counteroffer as much as RMB100/t (USD14/t) late last week. The producer stated, "We received no new order today and last sold 200t at RMB11,000/t (USD1,599/t) early last week". Due to the cost pressure, the producer plans to firm their price and believes that the mainstream prices of Chinese LC ferromanganese would stay unchanged in the coming days despite the weak demand.
