BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Mar 23 - Encouraged by strong demand from downstream consumers, Chinese rutile titanium dioxide suppliers raised their prices in the past week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese rutile titanium dioxide 93%min increased to RMB15,800-16,300/t (USD2,292-2,365/t) D/A 180 days, up by RMB100/t (USD15/t) from early last week
A producer in South China claimed that they offered RMB16,300/t (USD2,365/t) D/A 180 days for rutile titanium dioxide 93%min and could accept RMB16,100/t (USD2,337/t) for orders no less than 30t today, while they could accept RMB16,000/t (USD2,322/t) for the same quantity when they offered RMB16,200/t (USD2,351/t) early last week. "We received three inquiries this morning, while we received around one inquiry a day last week," said the producer, who last sold around 30t to a regular client at around RMB16,000/t (USD2,322/t) late last week. Encouraged by active inquiries from downstream consumers, the producer plans to raise their price by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) next week and predicts that the titanium dioxide prices would increase by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) in the coming week.
Based on an annual production capacity of 60,000t, the producer produced nearly 54,000t in 2022 and almost 10,000t so far in 2023. They would produce about 4,000t in March, unchanged MoM . They hold around 500t of stocks now, down by 100t from last month.
"We quote RMB16,400/t (USD2,380/t) D/A 180 days for rutile titanium dioxide 93%min and could accept RMB16,000/t (USD2,322/t) for orders no less than 300t at present, while we could accept RMB15,900/t (USD2,308/t) for the same quantity when we quoted RMB16,200/t (USD2,351/t) early last week," said a producer in North China, who just sold around 300t to a regular client at around RMB16,000t (USD2,322/t) early this week after they refused the target purchasing price at around RMB15,800/t (USD2,292/t) early last week. As titanium concentrate prices show uptrend, the producer intends to raise their price by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) next week and predicts that the titanium dioxide prices would increase by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) in the following week.
Based on an annual production capacity of 160,000t, the producer would produce around 12,400t in March, up by 2,400t from February. They produced nearly 121,200t in 2022 and almost 30,000t so far in 2023 . They hold around 7,000t of stocks now, down by 2,000t from last month.
