Zhaobo Industrial stops HR strip production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Mar 23 - As a major producer of HR strip in Tianjin, Tianjin Zhaobo Industrial Co. (Zhaobo Industrial), suspended the production on March 6th and would just produce about 46,000t of HR strip this month, disclosed a source of the company.
"We stopped HR strip production last Monday due to the environmental protection inspection and might restart the production this week," said the source, adding that the planned output of HR strip in March would drop by about 9,000t MoM to around 46,000t. Besides, they just hold a stockpile of about 6,000t in hand at present, down from around 14,000t in February.
With one HR strip production line of 650mm rolling mill, the company produces HR strip with the width of 180-413mm and thickness of 1.5-5.75mm. Based on the annual production capacity of about 800,000t, it recorded an output of around 330,000t of HR strip in 2022 and produced about 75,000t in the first two months of this year.
The mainstream prices of HR strip Q195 235mm*2.5mm*C from Zhaobo Industrial increased to about RMB4,400/t (USD633/t) D/P in warehouse Tianjin last Friday, up by RMB50/t (USD7/t) from last Thursday. Insiders expect Chinese HR strip prices to move down this week on soft demand.
