BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Mar 23 - As most Chinese suppliers held their prices stable in the past week, the prevailing import prices of calcined bauxite 85%min Fe2O3 1
"We bought about 80t of calcined bauxite 85%min Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 45%max B . D . 3.1min 1-5mm and 200 mesh at USD430/t Ex-VAT CIF Japan early this month with the freight of USD25/t," a trader from Japan disclosed, adding that most of their Chinese suppliers kept the offers stable at USD430/t Ex-VAT CIF Japan with a discount of USD5/t for orders over 200t in the past two weeks . Based on the supply shortage of raw bauxite in Chinese market, most of their Chinese suppliers plan to keep their prices unchanged . Therefore, the trader predicts that the prevailing import prices of calcined bauxite in Japan would keep steady in the upcoming week.
With a typical monthly import volume of 100t, they expect to import about 100t this month, unchanged from February. They hold no stock at present.
"Most of our Chinese suppliers kept their offers for calcined bauxite 85%min Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 45%max B . D . 3.1min 1-3mm unchanged at USD470-490/t CIF Japan since early this month and refused to sell at any prices below USD465/t," another trader disclosed, claiming that they last bought around 200t at USD475/t in the end of February . Although their market demand dropped slightly by around 10% compared with same period last year, most of their Chinese suppliers prefer to stick to the prices on basis of the firm raw bauxite prices, and the trader forecast that the prevailing import prices of calcined bauxite would stay steady in the following week.
Based on a monthly import volume of 1,000t, they expect to import around 600t in March, in line with last month. Presently they have no inventory.
