Cash Industrial's electrodeposited nickel output to increase

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Yantai Cash Industrial Co., Ltd., one of major electrodeposited nickel producers in East China, has completed the transformation for its production equipment, and expects to produce about 600t in March.
"We began to replace the anode plates of electrodeposited nickel production equipment in September last year, and by the end of February, all the anode plates of their 88 electrolytic cells have been replaced. We expect the electrodeposited nickel output to reach about 600t in March, higher than about 500t in February", a source from the company noted, adding that at present their nickel sulfate is mainly produced by OEM for others, and they do not produce the product themselves.
With an annual production capacity of 10,000t of nickel cathode and a total of 88 electrolytic cells, the company suspended production since May 2021 and resumed production in June 2022. It totally produced 2,950t or so in 2022, and has no inventory of nickel cathode in hand at the moment.
On Wednesday, mainstream prices for Chinese nickel cathode were RMB195,400-196,400/t (USD28,118-28,262/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB2,600/t (USD374/t) from Tuesday. The supply of nickel cathode market remains relatively balanced this week, and with the recovery of demand, insiders predict that Chinese nickel cathode prices would move up in the following week.
