LS-Nikko Copper halts selenium granule output

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - The only selenium granule 99.95%min producer in Korea, LS-Nikko Copper halted selenium granule 99.95%min production since early March and would resume the production late this month, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
The source said, "We halted selenium granule 99.95%min production since early March in view of equipment overhaul and would resume the production at the end of this month as plan." They hold no stock for selling at present and just watch the market till now. They also halted tellurium granule 99.99%min production at the same time and would resume it late March.
The producer, established in 1936, based on a production capacity of 500tpy of selenium granule 99.95%min, produced around 380t totally in 2022 and expect to produce around 360t in 2023. They mainly produce copper with a production capacity of 580,000tpy.
The current mainstream prices of South Korean selenium granule 99.95%min hover at KRW23,731-26,368 (USD18-20/kg) delivered now, unchanged from last week. The spot market ran slowly and most downstream consumers mainly did long-term contracts. Insiders predict that the mainstream prices of selenium granule 99.95%min in South Korea would stay stable in the coming week.
