BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Mar 23 - Dragged by poor demand from consumers, the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% market witnessed sporadic inquiries over the past week. The current Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices dropped to RMB1,950-1,970/kg (USD281-284/kg) EXW T/T 30 days, with a decline of around RMB150/kg (USD21.6/kg) from one week ago. Given that buyers purchase inactively and Chinese dysprosium oxide 99.5%min mainstream prices still show downtrend, insiders forecasted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices would go down further in the forthcoming week.
A producer in South China noted that he lowers ferrodysprosium 80% quotation to about RMB1,950/kg (USD281/kg) EXW T/T 30 days and refuses to accept any counteroffer now, while they didn't consider selling at prices below RMB2,100/kg (USD303/kg) one week ago. He concluded his latest sale early this week, when he sold one ton at around RMB1,950/kg (USD281/kg). "I could purchase dysprosium oxide 99.5%min at around RMB1,970/kg (USD284/kg) EXW D/P now, while I couldn't buy at prices below RMB2,120/kg (USD306/kg) one week ago," said the producer, who lacks confidence towards the ferrodysprosium 80% demand outlook and forecasted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices would go down by around RMB30/kg (USD4.3/kg) in the upcoming week due to weak demand from buyers and dropping dysprosium oxide 99.5%min prices.
With an annual production capacity of 800t, the producer's outputs in 2022 and so far in 2023 recorded approximately 570t and 110t respectively. He expects an output of around 50t in March, without much change MoM. He has around 60t of stocks now, up by 10t MoM.
A consumer in North China disclosed that his regular suppliers quote about RMB1,960/kg (USD283/kg) EXW T/T 30 days for ferrodysprosium 80% to him at present. According to his experience, he could buy at around RMB1,950/kg (USD281/kg) now, while he had difficulty in purchasing at prices below RMB2,100/kg (USD303/kg) one week ago. "I last bought three tons at around RMB2,100/kg (USD303/kg) in mid-February," said the consumer, who has no intention to purchase in bulk due to the sufficient supply and sliding prices. He predicted that the Chinese ferrodysprosium 80% mainstream prices would decline further in the coming week.
