BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 23 - Supported by the tightening spot supply despite the slow purchases, the current mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in India firmly stand at USD1,950-2,000/t CIF India this week from early last week. Given the tight spot supply, insiders predict the mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in India would keep firm next week.
A consumer in India disclosed that he bought 120t of zircon sand 66%min at USD1,950/t CIF India with the cargo arrival in early April on Monday from a regular Indonesian zircon sand supplier, and the supplier insisted on the same price early last week. "Even though the supplier raised offers to USD2,000/t, he gave me the same price as I halved my purchase amount this time upon my enough stocks," revealed the consumer on Monday. He added that two out of three suppliers didn't quote now as they're selling to China, and Tronox and Iluka also quoted USD2,200/t, and he predicts the mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in India would go firm next week due ot the tight spot supply.
With an annual consumption capacity of 4,000t, the consumer expects to use around 150t in March, down by around 50t from February, holding around 200t in stock.
Another consumer disclosed that he got the price of zircon sand 66%min from a regular Indonesian supplier at USD2,000/t CIF India with cargo in late April, and the supplier insisted on the same price, and he purchased 200t at the price on Monday. "Some suppliers didn't offer now as they turned to sell to China, and some others intend to raise offers, but the demand remains sluggish, and my monthly consumption accounted for 60-70% compared with regular level," revealed the consumer on Monday.
