Chinese calcined bauxite export prices keep stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 Mar 23 – Despite that the overseas market demand stayed in low position, most exporters kept their prices stable this week on basis of the firm domestic prices. Hence, the present mainstream export prices for Chinese calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0.45%max B.D. 3.15min stand at USD470-490/t FOB China, in line with late last week. Although domestic suppliers plan to raise prices, given the overseas buyers' wait-and-see attitude, most exporters prefer to insist on their prices and insiders hold the view that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay steady in the following week.
An exporter in Tianjin revealed, "We kept our price for calcined bauxite Al2O3 85%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0.45%max B.D. 3.0min stable from late last week at USD460/t FOB China and accepted no concessions". Their latest deal dated back to a week ago when they export about 200t to an European client at USD460/t. Despite that their suppliers informed them of the prices lifting in two weeks, considering the dormant overseas market demand, they intend to insist on their prices to compete for orders and predict that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would keep stable in the following week.
The exporter, based on a typical monthly trading volume of 500t, expected to export about 400t this month, in line with last month. They have no stock at present.
Another exporter in Beijing quoted USD430/t Ex-VAT FOB China for calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2%max K2O+Na2O 0.45%max B.D. 3.15min max and could make no discount, unchanged from late last week. "We completed our last deal last Tuesday when we exported about 120t at USD430/t", the exporter revealed. Although their domestic suppliers' intention to raise prices, they decide to stabilize their price given that their overseas buyers hold a wait-and-see attitude and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay stable in the coming week.
With a regular monthly trading volume of 300t, they expect to sell about 300t in March, unchanged MoM. Currently they have no inventory.
