Xinjiang Wuxin starts to produce crude selenium

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Mar 23 - Xinjiang Wuxin Copper Co., located in Changji Hui Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, China, started to produce crude selenium 95%min since January 2023, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
The source said, "We produced crude selenium 95%min since early January and only produced no more than 1t till now as we still stay in the preproduction stage." They plan to recycle crude bismuth and crude tellurium in the future, while did not make sure the production capacity now.
The producer, based on a design production capacity of 80tpy of crude selenium 95%min, holds no more than 1t of stock presently, unchanged from the end of last month. They mainly produce copper cathode with production capacity of 120,000tpy.
Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese selenium powder 99.5%min stand at RMB150-155/kg (USD21.7-22.4/kg) delivered D/P, a decrease of RMB5/kg (USD0.72/kg) from the end of last week. The market runs smoothly and most downstream consumers purchase from hand to mouth. Insiders are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese selenium powder 99.5%min would soften in the coming week.
