Jilin Carbon to increase graphite electrode production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Mar 23 - Jilin Carbon Co., a major graphite electrode producer in north China, is scheduled to increase production from late March and might produce 7,500t in April, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"One of our plant will increase production by 10% to around 5,000t and the total production volume would reach around 7,500t next month," said the source, who has two plants and holds around 4,000t in stock now.
Based on the production capacity of 180,000tpy, they produced over 80,000t in 2022 and target around 90,000t in 2023.
Present mainstream prices for UHP graphite electrode D600mm in China keep at RMB21,800-22,800/t (USD3,158-3,302/t) EXW, down by RMB200/t (USD29/t) from early this week for the stagnant demand and increased supply. Graphite electrode producers in China increased production from the middle of last month and the supply increased.
