Yangquan Taihushi to resume calcined bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Mar 23 - A major calcined bauxite producer in China, Yangquan Taihushi Refractory Materials Co., Ltd. predicts to resume production in two weeks and expects to produce about 20,000t of calcined bauxite in March.
"We would resume production in two weeks after the production safety inspection finished and plan to produce about 20,000t in March", a source from the company revealed, noting that they suspended their furnaces in Yangquan suburb area since mid-January due the environmental protectional inspection and production safety inspection, expecting the inspection would finish after mid-March .
With a production capacity of 300,000tpy, the company produced about 170,000t in 2022 and expect to produce about 180,000t this year. At present they hold stocks of nearly 2,000t.
The current prevailing prices of calcined bauxite 87%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.5%max K2O+Na2O 0.4%max B.D. 3.3min stand at RMB2,750-2,850/t (USD399-413/t) Ex-VATEXW D/P in Shanxi, on par with early this week. Despite that end market demand stayed in low position, considering the short supply of raw bauxite, insiders estimate that the prevailing prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would move up next week.
