BEIJING (Asian Metal) 2 Mar 23 - Dragged by the sluggish demand, the current mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China edged down by RMB200/t (USD28/t) to RMB15,200-15,500/t (USD2,200-2,244/t) EXW D/P from early lasts week
A consumer in Guangdong disclosed that he bought 100t of zircon sand 65%min at RMB15,300/t (USD2,215/t) EXW D/P on Monday from a supplier who insisted on RMB15,500/t (USD2,244/t) early last week. "Our consumption volume remains only about 30% of our regular level in Feb upon the sluggish demand of zirconium silicate from ceramic plants," revealed the consumer on Wednesday. He added that some producers claimed that their production cost keeps as high as RMB14,500-15,000/t (USD2,099-2,171/t) and turned reluctant to move prices down further, and he predicts the mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China would keep stable next week upon the high production cost despite the sluggish demand.
With an annual consumption capacity of 25,000t, the consumer expects to use around 700t in February, unchanged from February, holding about 500t in stock.
Another consumer in Fujian disclosed that he bought 200t of zircon sand 65%min at RMB15,200/t (USD2,200/t) EXW D/P from a regular supplier who insisted on RMB15,400/t (USD2,229/t) early last week. "I also bought 200t of Indonesian zircon sand 65.5%min at RMB15,300/t (USD2,215/t) this week, and my consumption in February only accounted for half of our regular level dragged by the remaining sluggish demand of zirconium silicate from ceramic plants," revealed the consumer on Wednesday . He foresees the mainstream prices of zircon sand 65%min in China would keep steady next week upon the high production cost for suppliers despite the unrecovered demand in the market.
With an annual consumption capacity of 50,000t, the consumer plans to use around 1,500t in March, unchanged from last month, holding about 2,000t in stock.
