China expects ten nonferrous metals production to exceed 70 Mt in 2023

China's production of ten commonly used nonferrous metals totaled 67.74 million tonnes in 2022, up by 4.3% from 2021, according to preliminary statistics provided by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) on February 10.
In 2022, China produced 11.06 million tonnes of refined copper and 40.21 million tonnes of primary aluminum, up by 4.5% and 4.5% YoY respectively. The annual production of six metal concentrates totaled 6.7 million tonnes, up by 1.0% YoY. Alumina production reached 81.86 million tonnes, up by 5.6% YoY, and silicon metal production increased by roughly 24% YoY to 3.35 million tonnes.
CNIA forecasts the nonferrous metals industry will remain stable on the whole in 2023, with annual production of ten commonly used nonferrous metals expected to increase by around 3.5% year on year to surpass 70 million tonnes.
