The domestic section steel and steel pipe market ran slowly during the month as downstream projects halted production since early this month either because of the cold weather or the approach of the Spring Festival. The demand from downstream industries shrank gradually. However, both steel mills and traders remained eager to move up prices, adopting optimistic attitudes towards the market prospect boosted by the series of stimulant policies from the central government. Besides, prices of raw materials kept rising, and the cost support strengthened. Meanwhile, the market inventory kept low.
