WBMS: Global copper market records deficit of 736kt in Jan-Sep

Global copper market was in a deficit of 736,000t from January to September 2022, compared with a deficit of 285,000t in 2021, according to the latest data released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS).
Global mined copper production increased by 1.2% YoY to 16 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2022, and refined copper production rose by 1.2% YoY to 18.5 million tonnes during the period, with significant increase in China (+301,000t) and India (+56,000).
In the first nine months, global copper demand was 19.25 million tonnes, up by 4.1% from the same year of last year. Chinese apparent demand during the period was 10.71 million tonnes, a 5.5% increase from the year-ago period.
In September, global refined copper production recorded 2.09 million tonnes and demand was 2.23 million tonnes.
